Free Design Tools

Being a small business owners is a testament to the dedication and resourcefulness of the owner. Making a web site, designing your logo, taking professional photos, etc. even today, can be a time consuming and frustrating process. To help out, I’ve listed several free design tools to assist the small business owner in lieu of paying designers.

Logaster is a free online tool that helps you create your own logo, free of charge. Now your company logo is one of the most important decisions you can make, so you make want to keep an open mind when using this service. A logo is something you may expect to pay a decent amount of money for. You can however use Logaster to play around with various “ideas” you can then impart to a professional logo designer.

Many times you want to use high resolution, professional photography for your website, presentations and more. You may be tempted to simple do a Google Image search for the file you want, but that would be a mistake. Many of the images you find are no doubt licensed and you can get sued for using them without permission. On the other hand, many of the stock images sites charge a premium for their content, an amount somewhat of a hardship to new business. The solution? Free stock photos sites. I’ve listed a few but as always, even though they are free, always read the license given to see exactly in what capacity you can use the images.

Image Editors

Image editors are used for more than placing leaping sharks in a position to bite a man climbing a rope ladder on a helicopter.

Image editors are used to color correct photos, add text, crop, and more. The 880 lb gorilla in the space is Adobe Photoshop, an application which still costs hundreds of dollars. The good news is there are other, free applications which can do much of what Photoshop can do.

Hope these link help you out, I’ll be back with another post that highlights even more of these free online tools soon.
